Re: NO ICS :(
Sorry to hear you are not happy with ics after all the extra work you went to in order to get it.I still have not received the update. I do not have a micro sd card to try and follow the directions from the link you posted. My health is not great and it is hard for me to get out.I live in small town and we lost our Radio Shack.I have ordered one online though.I have not used the a100 hardly at all.I bought it because it should have alreadyhad ics on it.I also ordered it online.
I hope you are able to get it to work correctly.I am not techsavvy at all.Unfortunately no one around me is either. - 06-02-2012, 07:10 PM #52

The instructions are relatively simple. The only complicated instructions are possibly making the backup, copying the file to your external sdcard and renaming it. And that's really not too complicated. You will probably need a file manager program like Astro to do that. Outside of those steps I only think you'll have trouble if something goes wrong. Hopefully nothing will. If I can, I would try to help you. But I had backup problems myself so...

I will help if I can. That's all I meant. If I can't help I'm pretty sure someone else can.
As far as speeding up my tablet. I got a widget that tells your cpu usage. It seems every time the cpu usage gets high everything slows down. Especially my keyboard. I went in there and disabled most programs that use high cpu or uninstalled them. It's somewhat better but when it happens, by the time I'm able to check the cpu it's already settled down. So I don't know what programs are causing it.Last edited by rrand; 06-04-2012 at 04:12 AM.

Re: NO ICS :(
What an aggravation.I don' t know if I even should try to flash the update. If something went wrong I certainly would be in a mess since my android/tab knowledge is limited.
I hope you are able to get all your issues straightened out.
My tab is the gen2 3.2.1. Looks lile fhe update I viewed was for gen 1. - 06-05-2012, 12:11 AM #58
Only you can decide if it'd be worth it to try upgrading or not. I think most people haven't had any problems. I just seem like an unlucky one. Maybe my download of the rom had an error or something, or maybe I downloaded the wrong one.
Here's a thought. Are you able to return it to the store where you bought it from if it doesn't work? - 06-05-2012, 07:17 PM #59
Re: NO ICS :(
I purchased it refurbished on Amazon's Marketplace sellers. It is up to the individual store. I have been thinking about sending an email to explain the problem and all the bull Accer kept feeding me....just keep waitng. I have barely used the tablet. I really am disgusted with acer qnd their customer service.

I am not happy with Acer as well. I wonder how many people out there don't know about the update and will never get it.
I don't think it would hurt to send the letter and you may get an mra which you only have to use if you want to. Did the store promise ice cream sandwich in any way? - 06-14-2012, 10:21 AM #61
Re: NO ICS :(
Sorry took so long ro reply, been ill.I did email the company I pur hased from. They said because over 30 days would not let me return
Ofcourse the only reason 30 days was because Acer kept saying you will get update, just wait. I told the company that but they did not care.
Btw, what is an mra? I figure if tje tab did not pick up his update chances are it will not pick up any in the future as well.
The company I ordered from gave me an 800 # to call to mail the tab to to be repaired. It does havd 90 day warranty.Unfortunately it os hard for me to get out at times.
Is your tablet working correctly yet since you did the update yourself?I surely hope so. - 06-16-2012, 10:51 AM #62
Re: NO ICS :(
ICS finally arrived on my acer a100 today.Unbelievable.
Almost two months since the U.S. release on April 23.
Why doesn't Acer let their customers know it can take that long to finally get the update?
You would think they would want to keep their customers happy and possibly have repeat customers.Just wanted to.let everyone know. - 06-16-2012, 07:18 PM #63
Re: NO ICS :(
So happy you got it finally! I never got mine to work properly so I haven't been using it. I looked into installing Flexreaper on my A100 but it seems complicated to me and I'm afraid to proceed. You can't just update it like you do with stock ICS. I keep putting it off, mainly because I'm still afraid of losing my data.
An RMA is a return merchandise authorization. It's usually a number that you get in order to track the return of your product back to the company you bought it from.
I now wish I would have waited for the upgrade. It would be much less of a headache.
Well, enjoy your ice cream sandwich! - 06-16-2012, 10:54 PM #64

Re: NO ICS :(
I think maybe I can do a factory reset to go back to Honeycomb but I'm not sure. Never tried it. One problem is though that all my applications have been upgraded to ICS so I can't use any new backups if I go back to HoneyComb. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner! Very hectic days here. I think I'm going to take your idea and go back to HoneyComb this weekend and use my old backups. I'll let you know what happens.

If I do a factory reset will I go back to honeycomb? For.some reason ifs has made my tablet buggy and slow. I don't understand why, its completely stock and I've never rooted. Every time I open my browser it just force closes hc was much more.smooth and fluid

Time for an update.
I flashed a different rom and it's only been two hours since I did it, but it seems to be much better than before. It's much snappier now and it only has a few annoying quirks. Like having to manually turn on wifi after a reboot, and also the cpu spikes now and then (hardly noticeable), but hey I can live with that. On the upside, my camera is no longer upside down as on the last rom and I can listen to music without having the screen on.
I also rooted my tablet, and unlocked the bootloader so I can finally create a decent backup.
Well what did I say before? I'm probably going to be dead last and I was right (I think.) lol.
I think I'm all set but I'll be monitoring this thread for a while.
