    Angry Updated to 4.0.3

Hi! A couple of days ago, my Acer A500 tablet updated to version 4.0.3. A few odd things I'm not liking... since the update, I can no longer turn my tablet sideways and the screen rotates. It seems to be "stuck" in portrait display. Also, my notifications in my status display (bottom right corner) where I get notices about new emails, updates, etc, used to have an "X" beside them to delete the notification. Through trial and error, I've discovered that I can press on the notification and "slide" it to the side off the status display and it goes away, so that's not a big deal, just annoying. The big issue is not having my screen rotate when I turn my table sideways. Any ideas?

I DO however, really like the new method of unlocking the screen when I start the table up or restart the display after the screen goes blank... even if it did take my forEVER to figure out how to get the screen unlocked...

    Thanks!!!

As far as your tab not rotating, did you check the switch up near the volume controls that "locks" the screen so it doesn't rotate?

Thanks for the reply! I did check the switch... tried it locked and unlocked... doesn't change anything.

Or before a factory reset maybe just reboot the tablet.

ICS doesn't allow home screen rotations. You have to get a launcher. I'm using Nova and love it.

That's not true. My screen rotates just fine after the ICS update.

•» Screen Rotation Absolutely Works with ICS

FYI: There are some APP's that will not rotate, but in general most APPs Rotate

    Hope that helps

I found the solution from a post on the Acer tablet forum. Using a task manager to stop programs causes the problem. I uninstalled the one I had and all works well now.

    Same boat.
Mine wont rotate either. I don't feel so alone now.

I've done three defaults, two would rotate for about a day and then stop. The last one I did wouldn't rotate at all.

That's been the only bug for me thus far. But its kind of a pain since I read my tech manuals for work in portrait and I can do now is landscape.

Minor gripe, but still a pain.

I had to return my A500 after 5 months to have its lock switch replaced. It came apart inside and I was afraid some of the floating-around metal parts would short out something. The switch just fell into the case. Of course, without this switch, my unit was locked in one mode and was locked out of rotating. Maybe your switch is hosed, too. It has worked great since I got it back from BestBuy, who sent it in for me under warranty.

I rebooted my A500 and now the screen will not rotate at the home screen. I have rebooted it and also tried a factory reset with no fix to the issue. When I flip the rotate lock switch, the icon displays on the screen showing that the rotate is locked or unlocked, but it does not seem to matter.
