Download purchased movies

I've tried to convert Amazon purchased movies to MP4 with Handbrake and I've tried moving iTunes purchased moves with DoubleTwist, all to no avail, onto my Acer Iconia A500.

Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone been able to successfully do this or am I barking up the wrong tree? Is there a simpler way to do watch movies offline?

[I'm going to be flying soon, and I'd like some entertainment.]

What format are the Amazon movies? I've found i've been able to play almost anything using MoboPlayer's soft decoding. Which player are you using?
