I just got on my Kindle Fire HD for the first time today and my lockscreen ads are gone!? I didn't pay the fee to have them removed. I've turned the screen on and off a few times and they are not there. Different screen savers like the ones that were on the original fire are now there along with the date and time. Is this some type of fluke or has Amazon taken them away? I personally liked them. I just got $5 to use on videos.

It must be some type of mistake. I even checked my account to make sure that i'm still subscribed. The recommendations still appear at the bottom of the main page and it also still has the offers tab. The pictures on the lockscreen are different from the pics on the original fire.

Like what pics? Straight wallpaper type pics? Discover card is the main one that keeps popping up for me. I'm not sure if the ads are custom tailored. I know some of the ads that I received when I first got the kindle are gone, most likely "expired".

yeah, standard wallpaper type pics. chess pawns, some buttons etc.

Hmmm, that is really interesting. Perhaps an error on amazon's part. Guess it depends if you liked the ads or not lol. If you did, then I would contact amazon.

Well, speak of the devil, not too shortly after I had posted last, my lock screen has changed. It's yellow paper background with squiggly lines and it says "Please verify that your Kindle is registered and that your wireless is connected to receive the latest Special Offers". I am not sure if that is a generic message they are pushing out or it's to mine alone. My KFHD is rooted and installed with google apps. I triple checked and it says my KFHD is active and registered.

Guess what? I woke up this morning and my ads were back. Added with your problem I guess this means that Amazon must be having some technical difficulites with maintaing the lockscreen subscriptions. I posted a pic of one of the wallpapers.

Interesting because last night, I was messing around with trying to get gtalk functioning the way I wanted and after a couple reboots, I would get a system message saying it was updating. I then lost my ads and at one time, I got a quick flash of the film roll lock screen and it bounced back to checking my account screen. I tried to deregister and register a couple times and it wouldn't fix the problem.

Anyways, I wanted to clean up my KFHD after messing around for about a week and my ad lock screens were back after a reset.

I just picked up a Fire HD from Best Buy and I haven't seen an ad yet. I was kinda hoping for the free $5 to instant video!

You can check out the offers tab in the carousel bar, it's at the end next to docs. You can see all the active offers. No need to wait for the lock screen.
