video player or converter

I'm thinking of getting the fire HD for my wife. There is only one specific thing I need it to do and I'm not sure that it can. There is a website that we use for downloading sign language videos and the only available options are wmv and m4v. I have a nexus 7 and use v video player and MX player pro. However I have read that fire HD has some compatibility issues with those apps. Would someone who has some video player apps be willing to download a short video and tell me if there media player plays it OK? Its a link to a sign language bible so the individual chapters won't take too long to download.A video is around 15 mts each. I'm just trying to avoid buying the fire and having to return. I
