You know, I had just rolled with the Silk browser that came on it. I've not been that impressed with it at all, but I did use it.
Today, from another post about frustration with previous tabs not closing, I downloaded Maxthon browser.
Amazing the difference. Outside of the obvious of the interface being customizable, it is SOOOOO much faster than silk, it's ridiculous.
So, I recommend trying that.

And also, I recommend to Amazon to worry less about collecting our browsing habits and more about increasing their Silk browser speed.

I tried Maxthon. While it was ok (certainly faster than Silk), I ended up uninstalling it and sticking with the Opera Mobile browser, which works well on the Fire. You can download it directly from Opera.com.

I actually side loaded firefox and have been enjoying it quite a bit. I never really warmed up to it on my phone, but on my fire it's been very good.
