Question What's the difference between Fire and Fire HD?

My 8 year old loves playing on the Fire HD and was I thinking about gettting him a Fire for himself (why spend the extra money if I don't have to?). Is there any reason that an eight year wouldn't be happy with the Fire instead of the Fire HD? Basically it's for simple games and TV/movies while traveling.

He doesn't care about the resolution and will never fill the hard drive, but figured it was worth asking.

Thanks in advance for any help.

He should be fine. You can play all the same games. The regular just doesn't have as fancy innards and the screen isn't as good but it works just fine.
