I have tried several times to downgrade my S4 from Lollipop but continue to get failed errors from Odin. I downloaded the correct MD file from Sammobile and even tried different versions of Android all wit the same result. See below the error message I am getting. Please help. Thanks.

Duh.. I forgot... but how can someone tell if a pre-owned device has been rooted by looking at something in Settings.

On my previous Samsung, About Device - Status showed Official or something. That's not on a Motorola.

Just do not harm your phone in the process, key is not to root your phone otherwise it will be thrown in a loop hole again.

Hello Anderw

I have also came across same kind of situation where it hangs on samsung LOGO.if this is happening follow this step.
1. go to same install mode again.
2. then click on restart.
3. when you click on restart,at that same time you press all buttons which take you to the recovery model and then click on clean all cache and do factory reset.
4.Then its done.

I tried this on Tab s and working perfectly to me.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100) (Italian Firmware).
A couple of days ago the phone kept rebooting continuously, and after some time it rebooted and was stuck on the Odin screen:
"Downloading... Do not turn off target!" (but without the phone's information panel in the upper left corner)

So I tried to use Odin and flash the phone with its stock ROM (4.1.2)
(NOTE: I got the 4.1.2 because I was unable to find the definitive 4.4.2 "Italy" version)

Using Odin v 3.10, I connected the phone in Download Mode and imported the .tar.md5 image of the ROM.
Once the image was loaded, I hit Start, and Odin started the process.

However, after only about 20 seconds, the process stopped, with Odin displaying a "Failed" message, saying that "No PIT partition is available".

Any workarounds for this? Should I try and find a different file for the ROM?

I followed the guide and at first it worked but my intiall problem came back, ive posted in the Galaxy Tab 2 forum and was going to add a link here but im not allowed as a new user so below is a copy of the post :

I never had a problem in almost 3 years until now, but it has been used alot more than normal over the past few months due to ill health. I had used it in the evening with no issues. Next morning it wouldn't turn on. So id pressed the power button for 10 or so seconds and it started to boot. It got to the Galaxy Tab 2 screen and hung and wouldn't boot any further.

After googling I found loads of sites saying you could press the power button along with the volume up button ect to get it to boot or to get you into recovery mode, these didn't work but did take me to the download page. After googling again I found that you can flash the rom ect so I used Odin and the correct firmware file.

It worked, I used it for half hour or so then put it on charge !

After an hour charging I went to use it and it was dead again and wouldn't boot past the Galaxy Tab logo as before. I tried pressing the power and volume buttons again with no luck so as flashing it fixed it before I did the same again.

It didn't work this time, all that is now on screen is a message stating " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again" it wont power off but just reboots to that screen.

I tired connecting to Kies but it isn't detected. Ive tried using older versions of Odin with the firmware that work previously and still the same issue. Also tried a different cable, different USB ports and a different PC. Only way it turns off is when the battery dies.

Im not too fused about loosing and data as I can reinstall apps ect but I really don't want to loose my Tab as its my lifeline at the mo as I'm recovering from a spinal injury and spend alot of time laid down. If anyone can help id really appreciate it, thanks in advance

Okay guys i just tried this on my galaxy s4, downgraded from lollipop to kit kat... The odin process went well, no problems there aside from the initial setup where you first connect the phone to the computer and then you have to wait a few minutes before odin recognizes the phone..
Now im just waiting for the phone to reboot, im sure then flashing process was succesful because on the odin screen it says PASS.. So now im just anxiously waiting for my phone to reboot😂 still on the samsung boot logo, im giving it a few minutes before i start to panic!
Been waiting for 10 mins now, hopefully we'll have liftoff soon..
Okay i'll update again in half n hour! Good luck to me!

Back..
Okay so this is what happened!
Was stuck at the boot screen for about half n hour, so i just rwbooted into recovery mode and i chose to wipe data/factory reset, then wipe cache.
Rebooted again, appeared to be still stuck on the boot screen but after about 5 mins she fired up!
So there ya go, the OP's instructions worked just fine but if anyone ever run into the problem i've described above, dont panic.. Just reboot into recovery(home button+volume up+power), facrory reset and wipe cache!
Good luck everyone!

I just want to install a newer firmware on my samsung galaxy s - I had gingerbread 2.3.6.... and messing up the files , downloads, links new words and new instuctions I never knew before I entered in an infinite loop, or booting and restarting continously ... and again with some instructions, I installed 2.3.4. - even older than I had before.
I used ODIN.
And looking back it was easy. But I messed it up in the first place.

I just want to install a newer version than 2.3.6 with ODIN and try the simplest way possible.

I try to install newer versions officially not supported by samsung galaxy s gt-i9000, like kitkat 4.4.3 and now I am hoping to see 5.5.1 working (kitkat worked when installing but not booting ok)

I guess it worked just like that and I have 5.1.1 (not 5.5.1 as I said in a hurry) so with a little patience you can have it on samsung galaxy s gt - i9000

Emad, probably not much. Assuming a good battery, it sounds like a hardware problem.

i have a galaxy note II model # sgh-i317M on koodo network. I am also on stock firmware for android 4.4.2 KitKat. After doing the Odin process, my entire phone re-installs the firmware, like it takes anywhere between 15-30 minutes for odin to complete, whereas other users with similar models say that it only takes a couple minutes.

After rebooting my phone, it completely erases all my files and docs. It's as if my note 2 did a hard reset and everything is back to deleted and back to start including the welcome screen. Is this supposed to happen ? am I doing something wrong ? How do I get vanilla firmware for koodo or for my model ?

thank you
