Default Gingerbread Keyboard issue when writing email. NOT with SMS-Gmail

Gingerbread Keyboard only seems to work properly in SMS and Gmail - it doesn't work with some other applications such as the normal email app.

Basically when I start writing an email with my phone using the standard email application (not Gmail) I get only the basicgingerbread keyboard features. In other words I don't get the following features:

    1) No auto caps
    2) No auto spell check
    3) No "quickbar" of punctuatio
    n

I'm pretty sure the issue is not within my settings, I checked many times and there is no related option.

My handset is a Galaxy GT-I9001 and the version of Gingerbread I'm using is 2.3.

    Any idea?

There are settings to toggle these features on/off:

Menu >> Settings >> Language & keyboard settings >> Android Keyboard (or whichever you are using)

Also, you didn't do anything funny, like restore a keyboard, Email.apk or system apps/settings from another ROM, right?
