Want to see it before I believe it; just seeing the version number doesn't mean anything (I actually have a thread up to fake the OS version on my phone to 2.3.1 rather than 2.2.1). And wouldn't put it past a site to make up some unverifiable news to get listed on bigger sites and thus generate traffic :P

Kind of odd that Google didn't go the route of 2.3.1 or something like that. I guess it doesn't truly matter though, seeing as how Honeycomb will be 3.0.

Did a blog post about this... but supposedly 2.4 will have video chat with Google Talk. But lets focus on getting those 2.3 updates pushed out before we start talking about 2.4 eh?
crap -> Droid Incredible (4/29/10) -> HTC Thunderbolt (4/9/11) -> Samsung Galaxy Nexus (4/1/2012)
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 32GB metallic grey (6/17/11)

I agree but look at 2.0 and 2.1. They were both considered Eclair and yet it had a slightly different UI. I don't know what to make of this but from what Jerry said on a previous podcast about Gingerbread does not support dual core processors currently, maybe this is the answer. Who knows.

If 3.0 is exclusively tablet, that may mean that 2.x will be for handsets and similar devices. This makes 2.4 sound like a major update, and after 2.x, will the versions unify? If so, when? I don't like the idea of say, two versions of Android 4.0, one for smartphones, one for tablets... It sound very Windows-like :P
That aside, if this is really 2.4 this bring an API level 10 to the SDK? Maybe it'll just be a revision of Level 9... - 01-07-2011, 08:18 PM #13
