This has been discussed in several places regarding individual phones, but think it needs a thread in the ICS forum.
As you probably know the "notification" and "ringtone" volumes are linked, you can't set ringtone loud and notification quiet or the other way around. This is an issue both when you need to hear the phone ring at night, but don't want to hear the spam 2am email notifications, or where you want ringtone very low (like at a meeting) but need it to beep loudly for a message you are waiting for. Comments I have seen say JB is the same way.
The place to put you comment on this so that Google (hopefully) sees it is here:

be sure to "star" the issue as well. Priority right now is only "Medium" so need to get more people to comment and star the issue so they know people are concerned.
