Nexus 7 otg issue

After buying a otg cable and installing nexus media importer to transfer files From a USB to my nexus 7 32gb i found it would not work.
Mouse works ok but does not recognise memory stick.
So rooted and installed stick mount and still does not recognise usb stick.
Where am I going wrong. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Otg cables are a mixed bag. Most work but quite a few do not so I would try a different otg cable and see if it works better than your own.

I bought my otg cable on eBay from a Chinese gentleman in Hong Kong for $1.85 postage paid. If you can't find a borrow cable to test your Nexus, it's only a couple of dollars to get another one from HK

It could be a bad OTG cable.

Update

After trying various usb sticks tried using a USB 3.0 recently purchased and it worked fine.
So I would suggest to anyone to try the faster USB 3.0
