Phone call screen and annoying additional menu while on call

If I'm on a phone call on my S4 I often navigate out of the call screen (where it shows you the call time, etc) to multitask and do other things while on a call. But when I press the PHONE button in the home screen instead of being sent back to the call screen (this is how it worked on all my other Samsung Galaxy phones), I am sent to another screen with these options -

Use touch tone keypad
Return to call in progress
Add call

This is extremely annoying because every time I want to do something quickly and as simple as HANG UP THE PHONE, I have to navigate to an additional screen and press "return to call in progress" to get me to the call screen. Does anyone know how to disable this annoying additional step? Thanks in advance.
