Galaxy Note 2 locking into landscape mode

I am using a Note 2 with AT&T. Recently I have been having issues with the phone locking into landscape mode and it won't rotate back to portrait mode. A restart of the phone fixes it, then it'll happen again in a few days. I have also had it lock into portrait mode a couple of times.

Is this common? Is there a fix? This is a stock phone with no jail breaking, etc.

Do you have your smart rotation on? I was having issues with mu screen rotation and turned off smart rotation and doesn't have that problem anymore.

Look under display, uncheck smart rotation.

some apps will make it lock in a certain orientation Facebook is the worst it at this in my experience. use the task manager seen when holding the home button and close all open apps and it'll rotate for you every time.

Also, if facebook was in front/open when it locked landscape on me, switching to another app to rotate and switching back to FB almost always worked. If it did it elsewhere I just cleared all tasks and reopened what I was using and bam fixed
