Lightbulb "Android System" using 91% battery - HTC One

    Hi guys

I just got my first Android phone ever (long time Apple fanboy), and it is great. Except one thing: Battery life. It SUCKS (quite literally)

"Android System" is using 91% battery. I've disabled location services, backup and so forth, but the problem persists. I've tried flashing various ROMs, including stock sense, stock GE and Android Revolution HD 21. The problem is there with all of them.

What can I do? (I've searched and searched but have not found anything usable)

Have you charged it for the first hours in a good manner??? If not then the battery would suffer. But now when you have tried so many things you may just consult with some executives in the nearest store....

Percentage is irrelevant, since it always has to add up to 100.

You need to look at wake locks to figure out what process isn't letting your phone go to sleep.

91% is irrelevant unless you are doing a lot of things and that is still the number. If you charge your phone and then let it sit for a day without using it at all you will still see 90+% attributed to Android. That's because it is pretty much the only thing running. Now, if you let it sit for a day and it says 90% Android and you only have 10% battery power left.... that would be a problem.

In other words, you are seeing that Android was responsible for 91% of what was used, not the whole battery.

I get that, but as you can imagine, I'm using the phone quite a lot these first days. I just finished an hour of playing GTA Vice City (straight after having unplugged) and the percentage have only changed very little - Android System is still the top power hog?

We need a lot more information about your actual battery life. Stuff like screen time, how long the phone has been off the charger and battery percent will be needed to tell if what you're seeing is cause for concern.

I have an S4 and for two days it reported my Android OS as using 90%+ but my actual battery life was fine. It was just some bug in how the battery usage was reported for those days.

I had the same issue with my first HTC one. Was 4 months old. Never had battery issues. Australia finally got 4.2 and I was using upward of 80 percent on android system. This is whilst I was only using the phone as I had been. Took it back to the phone dealer and told them to fix it. They took it straight away no questions asked.
