Unlocked, non-rooted and no updates HTC One S

Hello there,
I am new here . And I have an unlocked HTC One S, yeah why... My plan was to root my phone, but (1. my parents don't like that, and (2. It was not successful. My phone isn't rooted, doesn't receive updates and is unlocked. I know how to lock it, but will that solve the problem :-\ ? My problem is thatmy phone won't update android. I have now the android version that I has when I bought my phone.

Sorry for bad English btw, I am dutch, but I can't find a good android forum in dutch.
