Default missing the 'software update' button in settings (NOT on orange!)

    hello
as the title says, i am missing the 'software update' button in the 'about phone' section under settings.
i'm not on Orange! (so that's could not be the problem)
i have an acer liquid e2 (V370) smartphone currently running on android 4.2.1 jelly bean
my phone was rooted so i did a successful full unroot but the button was still missing...
(also since a few weeks my google authenticator codes never work don't know if that has something to do with it)
my phone is also NOT capable to read micro sd cards that are formatted in NTFS or exFAT...
that's why i thought of doing an update and saw that the 'software update' button was missing
altough i still have: status, device information, legal information, model number, android version, baseband version, kernel version, build number, custom build version
stored in the 'about phone' section
    thanks for helping!
