    Default Android system draining battery

After flashing Vanir 4.3.1 stable and 4.4.2 nightly on Verizon Galaxy S3, my battery would last from 5 to 6 hours on average vs. 10 to 14 on any other rom. The cause of this was the Android system using over 70% battery and screen like 15%, on other roms it's the screen that uses 70% and Android system using like 2 or 3%. I installed watchdog task manager and it detected that qrngd, a Linux process that is packaged in the android system, was the culprit by using around 83.4% of usage. I did some research and couldn't find much about it. Does anybody know what it really does or if I can safely stop it somehow? It's really annoying and idk if it's the kernel and I should flash a new one. I never have any luck flashing kernels so I don't really want to unless I have too. Any response would help.
