"Gallery isn't responding" + blank screen when opening camera

First post to Android Central Forums!

As of recently, when I open the camera I see a blank screen, then the message "Gallery isn't responding. Do you want to close it?" and finally the app closes.

Background info:

• Phone: Jiayu G4 (JY-G4) with Android 4.2.1
• Kernel version: 3.4.5

Troubleshooting done so far, to no avail:

• Killing the gallery app and reopen
• Restarting the phone
• Installing a different camera app from the Play Store ("ICS Camera")

I have use the app "mobile uncle" to collect logs while reproducing the error. However there are so many logs I'm not sure where to look. I see some Java exceptions in there though.

go to settings/ apps/ gallery and clear data. worked for me.

My S5 Gallery hangs up too. Blank page most of the time. There is no "Clear Data" on my G S5 as you describe. Other suggestions?
(Settings > Applications > Gallery > NO Clear Data option)
