Korean note no signal

So I have a korean note shv-e160s. For the life of me I can't get this thing to get a signal.
Sometimes I see 1 bar.
My carrier is Fido in canada.
Any help?

Idk. But just thinking out loud:
I'm guessing they use different wavelength spectrums for wireless devices in Korea than they do in Canada. If so, then you would need to replace the Korean WiFi radio chip of the Note with a 'Canadian one' to make it work...
I don't think that is a 'flashable' (in-situ reprogrammable) chip. It's probably hard(ware) baked (because that is faaar cheaper). So it would require a physical replacement...
Even if that were possible to do, I doubt it would be worth either the cost, or the inconvenience, or both.

Let's hope I'm wrong.

The phone is set up per Fido's site https://www.fido.ca/web/content/phonewarranty/configure_unlocked_device_guide&lang=en
It's set to gsm and the required MHZ settings. I double checked this in service mode *#9090#
Any other ideas?
