    Default 4.1.2 Sucks!

Ugh I'm so frustrated with this new update. They removed the best alarm features there ever was, screw with the settings for the default browser (don't like Chrome) and then force install Chrome (again not a Chrome fan). If they could at least bring back the alarm features that would be great.

That's just the beginning. I'm sure you'll have more to add by next week.

Same here, can't send picture texts now, youtube won't rotate to be full screen. I am not liking this new update so far either.

Theres more. I own a Moto Razr.. The new update:

    1. Deleted my "Notes" widget and app (default android) - I ended up losing all the text I had noted. Also there is no default notes app now so I had to install 3rd party apps which sync with a cloud server to avoid this.

    2. Deleted all my alarm ringtones resetting them to Default Cesium. There isn't even an option to chose an external ringtone now, just the 10 default ones. The only way seems to be adding the mp3 file to the internal ringtones folder - but seriously why remove the chose ur own ringtone option

    3. Software update notifications make sounds and vibrate. Can't switch off the notification. If I put notifications on silent, my text messages don't notify me. Why are all notifications tied to the same ringtone anyway? And unchecking Settings->Sounds->Software update alert doesn't help either. Android ignores it and still vibrates/plays sound when there is an app update. How do I switch this off!?

If I uninstall this update would I be able to get back my notes...

What are these "best alarm features" you speak of? What version was this on? I've only used 4.2.2 (phone) and 4.0.3 (tablet).

    I was on 4.1.1

It had a feature where the volume would adjust from low to high for you automatically rather than just playing the alarm at the loudest volume. (You have to adjust the alarm volume under settings>volume)

Also you could choose to add a song as your alarm instead using the default. It would ask you to pick which music player you used (Google music for me) and would list your tracks to choose from. Now after this last update its not as simple. It looks like I'm going to have to copy files over to do this now.

It does suck! Anyone having problems texting? It is so frustrating! I received the update notification couple of days ago so I updated it. Now when trying to compose and/or reply to a text mssg., the punctuation doesn't come up in the bar above so I could choose one. Instead, random words come up. I understand that part, to help you complete a sentence faster. Fine. One of the problems is that when I choose a suggested word sometimes it will erase almost my whole mssg. and insert that chosen word at almost the beginning of it and have to start all over again. Ex: "Hi. Finisthe" instead of it reading, "Hi. Finished with assignment. Schedule changed for the ..." as I'd originally written it. The last "the" was the problem. I hope this makes sense. It happens randomly & not all the time. So it's slowing me down on composing a text mssg. because now I'm afraid to click on any suggested word. I've not tried it w/e-mail yet. Anybody have any problems like that? I'm sure other annoyances will come up.

This isn't my first smartphone but my first experience with Galaxy S3. I was happy with ICS & don't much care for JB. The timer on the phone log was removed with that update. Battery life didn't get any better. I switched it to CDMA under Mobile Networks. I'll see if it lasts longer. I wish there was some way to revert to ICS, at least to before 4.1.2 because it's very annoying!

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know how to get voice commands to play music from your phone after the update? I say "play <artist> or play <song> or play <playlist> or play <ANYTHING> and all I get is Google Now asking if I'd like to use YouTube to look up my artist/song. I do not have the option to pick 'Google Play' or Pandora or Slacker... How the heck do I get those options back???????

after reading these posts I'm now not so disappointed to be stuck on 4.1.1 Galaxy Note 2, but what is weird is that my wife just got upgraded to JB 4.1.2 on her original Motorola Razrr, she loves that her old phone is ahead of my current phablet

I just noticed the notes gone after reading this. I too miss the low/high volume on the alarm, but my biggest problem is the battery goes down much faster- yesterday the biggest consumer was the andriod operating system, but last night & today it's been com.motorola.blur.h.(not even sure what that is).

I lost literally MONTHS of notes I've been taking on my Sticky Notes, which is going to cost me real time and money to fix.

Do we have any recourse to sue Verizon and Motorola for compensation? I don't understand how it's ok to go into MY PHONE and delete MY DATA WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! It's so infuriating I'm surprised I haven't thrown my phone into a wall, but I keep remembering how great it USED TO BE BEFORE THE STUPID UPDATE.

I can maybe live with losing my information, but the typing problems TIAROSY talked about are simply UNACCEPTABLE.

I've read that rooting and flashing ICS back on the phone will brick it. Is this true? How can that be true? I don't understand.

Maybe this has to do with the literally just released ?

Hi. Thanks to RPENG58 who provided information in another discussion topic regarding the keyboard problems, I downloaded the ICS Keyboard app by Johntanmi from the Play Store & my issue is solved! It's a much user-friendlier keyboard & now I am not slowed down trying to compose text messages! I love this forum! It is so helpful!

Now if I could only find or get suggestions for an easy app for the timer on my call logs. That function also disappeared with the update. I used to be able to see how many minutes a call lasted. Business-wise (and for my sanity) I'd like to see that function returned. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

So glad I avoided the update after reading all this. I rooted on 4.01 and I'm staying right here. No Verizon OTA nags or surprise downloads either because I fixed that too. I'm so very happy~

There is a lot of material out there to explain how you can go back to ICS. The only drawback is that you end up resetting everything back to stick....so you'll have to reload all your apps, contacts, settings... but there are ways to back those all up too....

There is a way... your phone is one of the most actively supported units out there.

4.1.2 was released months, in fact about half a year, before the release of Google Keep.

I don't think this has anything to do with Google or Android or 4.1.2. It's most likely something the manufacturers or carriers packed in with the 4.1.2 update.

Interesting, most of the features "missing" or "changed" are because of manufacturer or carrier modifications, and not because of jelly bean per se. Alarm fading has nothing to do with 4.1.2, get another alarm app that has fading and be done, for example. Also, most carrier's or manufacturer's apps actually use their own database to store information (notes for example), thus when you delete them, you lose all the information (obviously) if you didn't export it. Which is why, you should not use any application that does not sync with an external server or does not have an export option, because uninstalling it will mean deleting the data it carries.

I too have all the same complaints about the forced upgrade, so it is time to look into an iphone. And I absolutely despise anything apple. But they will not do this to me again.

Root your phone, install a custom ROM and make everything exactly the way YOU want it.
