...Yup MX Player Pro dead here on my N7 (2012). Insofar as no guidance in Play Store when this might be fixed, I've shifted over to the VLC Player Beta, which works just fine (just so long as I don't turn on Hardware Acceleration) for videos. Haven't yet uninstalled MX, and I'll give it to the end of the month before doing so.

I think it was the fault of the kitkat update rather than the MX player. That's what I read anyway.

What I don't get is why they don't let you use it still. I mean, I'm sure there are changes in 4.4.2, but I bet it'd still work. They won't even let us try. It should say something like, "This version hasn't been tested on 4.4.2 yet, but would you like us to try anyway?" But no... >:-(

It is the fault of the "MX PLAYER" app, nothing changed in 4.4.2 to stop it working, the app itself is deciding to prevent its use on 4.4.2. The app doesn't have any way of overriding this. I'm going to use a player which doesn't have these faults.

I'm in the same boat. I'll have to choose a new player too.

1245pm, Sunday December 15 - a new version of MX Player Pro just installed on my N7 (4.4.2) and the app now opens and seems to run my vids without issue.
I now know that free VLC Player (Beta) will work if a similar issue occurs again, but hopefully MX's developer won't make that same mistake again.

MX Player has done this with every Android version since I started using it on ICS. They always update the app within a week or so after the Android version update. And, yesterday, my Nexus 7 (2012) currently running KK 4.4.2 got the latest MX Player, and all is well again. Alas, the tablet is gonna get downgraded to Jelly Bean today. Can't handle KitKat's lousy performance on it any longer.
