Default Will formatting lose take away my root?

I was planning on format data resetting my Nexus 5 through TWRP format but I was wondering if that would take away super user or root access?

Nope. You can reset and it won't break root

If you literally mean "Format Data", it will wipe out all your user data and files. Not the system, which is where root is. It shouldn't matter when you have TWRP, you can always flash Sup[erSU.
