Is it possible to read information on the current charge capacity & the design capacity of a battery in an unrooted Android phone?
(either through system info, or an app, or perhaps by connecting the phone to the pc).

The sort of information I am looking for is the sort of information provided by the coconut battery os x application:
coconutBattery 3.1 - by coconut-flavour.com

Thanks :)

Elixir provides a very informative screen:

You can also use the Elixir widgets app to add a more direct way to view specific info

Thanks, but as far as I can tell Elixir only provides the battery voltage & current.

I'm looking for the capacity in terms of milliamp hours, both the current capacity and the design (original) capacity.
The number of charge cycles would be useful too.

Check out battery monitor widget and GSam battery monitor.

Sent from my SM-N900T using AC Forums mobile app

Just given these a go. Neither seem to read mAh battery capacity information.

Battery monitor widget does appear to have a tool for estimating battery capacity (I assume by relating instantaneous current draw with change in battery percentage over time).

Therefore, I assume it's not possible to directly read battery capacity information on Android like it is on OS X & Windows?

I think the capacity displayed here (3200) is the design capacity - possibly assumed based on phone model
2496 is just 3200 x percentage charge: 3200 x 0.78 = 2496.

It's not displaying the actual current capacity. On my phone it's displaying 2600 where you have 3200.
2600 is the expected capacity when my phone was new. There is no way the actual capacity of my one year old battery is still 2600.

I'm curious if you ever found an app that provided the information you were looking for (current capacity vs original capacity and cycles), as I'm looking for the same?

already two years since this thread opened, still no app for android to verify battery capacity in mAh.
which is a shame, as there's a lot of china made ripoffs claiming 4000mAh but only perhaps half of that in reality :(
