Yesterday I got 64 gb SanDisk sdxc card and I was wondering if you format it fat32 or ntfs or exfat in Windows and if either one will work on a galaxy s5

Put the sd card in your phone and then format it from there. Go to - SYSTEM SETTINGS - Scroll down to STORAGE - and finally scroll down to FORMAT SD CARD.

FAT is the most universal, and I believe that's what most SD cards are formatted to by default. For an SDXC card, exFAT is the norm.

Problem is Android (at least my 4.1.2 Galaxy SII) doesn't recognize NTFS or exFAT, only FAT32. Worse is that win7 & win8 dont let you format to FAT32, and the phone wont let you format it either. I had to get a 3rd party app to do it; in my case a nifty little app I found on the Sandisk website called Miniaide. Phew, what a hassle!

I'm running a 32gb SDHC card on my Galaxy S4 Mini formatted in exfat! Workes super nice and hence I can copy huge files/movies to the card.
