For about a week after receiving the Android 4.4.2 update on my Sprint HTC One (M7) phone, my phone battery was great. Then, I noticed a battery drain. GSam Battery Monitor showed "MediaServer" was using the power. I called HTC and Sprint several times. They had me restart the phone, do a factory reset, re-calibrate the battery, remove apps, remove all non-standard ringtones, etc. to see if that would stop the battery drain. I have figured out that I can stop the battery drain by doing a battery re-calibration or, sometimes, just restarting the phone. Although the battery drain may disappear (and the MediaServer process will not show in GSam up as using any significant power) for a few days (e.g., 3-5 days) after a battery re-calibration or phone restart, the issue seems to randomly recur.
I now have noticed that the battery drain seems to occur after I receive a voicemail message. For example, I received a voicemail message yesterday, which I listened to about 30 minutes later. About one hour after that, the battery drain (and MediaServer process) started occurring. The only way to stop it was to restart the phone--listening to and deleting the voicemail didn't stop the battery drain.
Has anyone else noticed this issue after the recent Android update?
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance for any information provided.
