Rooting Android 4.4.4

I have MOTO E running on android 4.4.4
Can someone here explain me the benefits of rooting the phone .?
I primarily want to root my phone in order to install games like Asphalt which have a high amount of app data stored in phone memory . Even apps like facebook app uses around 85 mb of app data .
So my question is
:if I root my phone will I be able to move app data from phone memory to SD card ?
:I would be able to move app data of all apps or just the apps which can be moved to SD card?
:Will lolipop update support this moving of app data to SD card automatically ?

You don't need to be rooted to move apps and data to the SD card. That is done in Application Manager.
