What formats will Android 4.4 read from an SD card?

I have a 128GB micro SDHC class 10 card that has 34GB worth of files on it, but because I have a lot of small files (topo map tiles) they take up 102 GB of space. The card is foratted exFAT and I read that the cluster size for exFAT drives from 32GB to 2TB is 128KB. Can I format a new card NTFS and copy the files over to take advantage of the 4KB cluster size? I don't want to buy a new card and find out it won't work I also don't want to mess with the current card, as in moving the files, re-formatting and moving the files back.

Some devices will not read a NTFS formated SD card. On my Samsung Note Pro 12.2, I have to use exfat or fat. Exfat is preferred.
Default cluster sizes for exFAT
The following table describes the default cluster sizes for exFAT.
Volume size Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP
7 MB–256 MB 4 KB
256 MB–32 GB 32 KB
32 GB–256 TB 128 KB
> 256 TB Not supported

I was probably reading the same table, but mis-entered the value in my post. Still, my cluster size is 128 KB. I have an HTC One M8. I guess I'll just have to try NTFS and see if it will work. It sucks that my map tiles are are around 10 KB and I have to use a 128 KB cluster for each one. Total number of files on the card right now is about 650,000. I'm not sure how many are ma tiles, probably the majority. Such a waste of card space. If anyone knows whether an M8 will read NTFS or not, please let me know.
