All,

I upgraded my Nexus 5 (stock) to Lollipop a couple of days ago and everything has been fine. I powered the phone off last night, went to sleep and powered it on this morning. It started the boot, displayed "Google", then the floating coloured dots began flying and it just hung there with the dots floating for 30 minutes.

I then went to recovery mode and wiped the cache partition and rebooted it again. Same thing and I left it for 20 minutes or so.

Finally and with much anguish, I performed a wipe/factory reset and I have the SAME THING! Even waiting 45 minutes didn't help, it won't go to the factory default Welcome screen now.

Help guys! please.

Thanks for the tip. I used the article below to flash to Kitkat 4.4.4, but when once I went through the "welcome" process, google services began to "stop". Examples included: Google play, camera and a few others. Every time I tried to access google play app, the service stopped.

h t t p://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/11/how-to-flash-a-factory-image-to-your-nexus-device/

I did, however, have the option to upgrade to 5.0, which I did. The upgrade seemed to install fine, but then it rebooted and I am now stuck at the floating dots again, the same problem that got me here to begin with.

Any way to wipe the phone completely of any remenants of anything and flash an image on?

Thanks for the help.

I flashed back to KK 4.4.4 and made it to the Welcome screen.

Welcome process (in order):
- Welcome screen pops up to select language and immediately "Camera has stopped working" and the welcome process continues
- I am prompted to select a wi-fi connection, which I do successfully
- Prompted for Google account, to which I say "yes" and enter my google account and password and all seems good.
- Prompted for "Google Now", accept "Yes, I'm in."
- Get to the home screen and everything seems fine.
- Click on "Play Store" icon and get "Google Play Store has stopped".

I am getting notifications that I have updates to apps in the play store, but if I try and update by tapping the in app update button, I get "Google Play Store has stopped".

FYI, here is a dump of the adb upload of 4.4.4 to the Nexus 5...

I know this an old topic, but were you able to figure it out, because I have the exact same problem.
Any time I tried flashing any lollipop stocks, it get stuck in the 4 flying colors .and going back to kitkat, camera, google app and gallery dont work, but the worst is that it doesnt recognize the sim card, also cant download anything,or store transfer files between computer to phone.
