Photo Files Changing Dates

I am trying to copy some photos taken by my camera (not my phone) from my computer to my phone (LG G2 with 5.0.2).

When I do so, the original date of each file is changed to the present date and there is no way to put them in chronological order.

Why is this happening and more importantly, is there a way to stop this behavior?

The device is thinking the photos are "new" and are assigning them new dates as of the day you transfer them. What are you using to transfer the photos? Are they being downloaded or transferred from a computer?

I am copying them directly from a computer using Windows Explorer. I even tried with another copy program and same result. I also tried it with a cable and with wireless storage connection. Same results.

Interestingly, when the file is copied, it initially has the correct date, then within a few seconds, the date changes to the current date by itself!
