Stock weather widget not updating

I have an unlocked alcatel one touch fierce xl from metro pcs i put a cricket sim card in it and it all works amazing all apps work texting pictures internet browsing all of it but the stock weather clock widget doesn't it worked great the first few days but now it wont update unless i connect it to wifi ive tried clearing cache and data from just about every app disableing re enabling ive reserched and other ppl have had the same problem in the past but with different phones but on the same network mostly at&t but cricket is merged and owned by at&t i want to assume its there network from what ive read but what can be done to fix this issue and no one say just use a different one.

Welcome to Android Central! What happens if you remove the widget from the homescreen, then add it back again?

Also, are there any power-saving modes turned on? Or is Restrict Background Data turned on?
