Update last night but not marshmallow

Last night I got a notification there was an update ready to install on my nexus 6. So I went through the usual process, it installed the update, restarted and when I looked, it didn't look any different. When I checked it was only on 5.1.1.
Is this normal and does it mean 6 will follow soon?

No way,Google has pronounced that Nexus series would receive Android M update..

It seemed really odd to me that the phone found an update and installed it but not wasn't Android M!

It's just a security patch. M will be on its way. My last updated to lollipop was about 3 weeks after release in my N5. I got M yesterday so much quicker.
