Can an app show as "screen" on battery use?

Weird one this. I'm well acquainted with android, running the latest on a Nexus 6.

A couple of weeks ago, I installed an app called Cammy..its for camera monitoring and I've been using it a lot. The battery has been worse than ever since I've installed it...almost a quarter of a day on one charge.
When I check the battery stats, it doesn't show the app anywhere, which is unusual as I watch a live feed a lot and plenty of alarms that push through.
What has increased though is "screen" ..which is at 50%
Is that a coincidence?

"screen" is the hardware screen, normally the biggest drain on the battery.
If you are using any camera app a lot, for stills or movies, you are constantly running the screen a lot of the time.

I think somehow, viewing that app is using a hell of a lot of screen...even though I use the screen anyway, no matter what I do on my phone (it's useless without it!)
