hate the update to Google Assistant

Before the update I could push a button on my BT headset and it would trigger the assistant and I could say "Call..." and it would dial the number. Now I have to hit it, wait for assistant to open and then hit it again thanks to it asking me if I want to type it out. Even after hitting it two or three times it doesn't work properly sometimes. Cannot wait for Bixby Voice. Hopefully it will work better for me. If not I may try Cortana. I only used assistant to call people in this way. Now it's broken or frustrating at best.

Do you have Trusted Voice set up? If so, you can just say "OK Google, call..." and it will call the requested number/contact. I did it yesterday, to call a take-out place that's not even in my contacts and it made the call...
