I am currently creating 2d games but want to try 3d in the future, is that unity basic or pro?

I use unity basic (free) and I'm happy with it!
What software are you using for 2d games?

Andengine (opensource), not happy with it, had to build tools and stuff from scratch, took a lot of time, didn't know the free version of unity allows you to create games for android, damnation....

Actually with Unity free you can compile games for android,iOS,blackberry,web and other (you need a license only for consoles) and if you want there is a great asset store where you can download (also for free) lot of stuff like 3d models, scripts and more. Give it a try!
