Default Storing Map Data on device

Apparently Google Maps will only work properly on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" if I have a WiFi connection. I would like to be able to use it as a Navigation unit and have it give me turn-by-turn directions, but it won't work properly as I drive without a connection.

Is there any way to save the map data to the unit itself so it doesn't need an internet connection to work properly?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply.

I updated it, but I didn't see any option to save map data.

On the updating thing, it's kinda odd that the pre-installed Apps on my Tablet aren't listed in the Google Play Store with the other Apps in which you have the ability to have the update automatically. It seems as if the only way to update the Apps that came with the device is to manually type them into search in the Google Play Store and see if there is an update.

Hopefully they raise the 10 map limit soon. 10 maps isn't much where I am, especially because the maps overlap so much.
