I've been using it for a few weeks. Yes, it runs all the time in the background, but it doesn't do a whole lot. I haven't seen any effect on my battery. Perhaps you have installed another app that is harming your battery or changed settings on an existing one.

I wonder if the act of constantly monitoring which pixels on the screen are pressed is a function of the OS/Kernel and not individual widgets?
My gSam battery monitor was complaining about the kernel, and not this app by name.
In any event, after a very good battery day yesterday (down only 30% in 16 hours), I turned swipepad on now and will see how I do today!
