Handcent is pissing me off!!!!!
This has been happening to me since I had the Motorola Droid, Droid Incredible and now the EVO. Handcent does this dumb *** force close and deletes all my messages. Has anyone else experienced this and what have you done about it? I know quite a few people this has happened to and it's becoming more and more a pain in the ***. What should I do?

Just use the default one, it sends and receives text messages just like handcent. That is what is supposed to do right?

He obviously knows he can use the default app (not much help there). But to add my 2cents, I have had the Evo since launch day, and installed Handcent a couple days later. Since then I have never had a force close. My only suggestion could be reinstall.

Sounds like you might have a conflict with something else running on your phone. I've never experienced the problem you're reporting and I've been running the app non-stop.
Check to see what else you are running that might use SMS. Maybe you've got two products that are stepping on each other.
I know that isn't much help, but I've found that these kinds of issues are usually the result of poor coding by 3rd-party apps in conflict for resources.

Handcent is an app. Moving to the apps forum.

I agree with Insp_Gadget, there must be some app on your phone that is in conflict with Handcent.
You could try uninstalling all your apps. Then install Handcent first. Make sure it works. Then install one app and check Handcent again. Do this one app at a time and perhaps you will find the app that is causing the conflict. Its a lot tedious process, but it might solve your problem, and you can share your findings with us. - 06-30-2010, 09:33 PM #17
Have you disabled the stock SMS app? Go into the settings for it and make sure all the notifications are turned off, and that Auto-retrieve is unchecked. Don't know if that's the problem, but it's worth a try.
PLEASE, when asking for help provide as much information as possible. Otherwise, it's like calling your doctor and saying "My head hurts." Your doctor can't treat you unless he knows whether you have a headache or a concussion, and we can't help unless we know what the symptoms are and what you did before they occurred.
If I've helped you, please press the Thanks button.
