what's your opinion on the app handcent sms? does it use a lot of battery?
I've been using it for like 8 months and while it does drain battery a bit more I find its worth itQuote:

does it drain it a lot more? Is it noticable?
Exactly. Handscent has to one of the best SMS on the market. Fully customizeable. For me the battery is no worse than any other app.Quote:

No but ever since I installed it my phone seems to die a bit faster but I do have a 3 year old phone with a bad battery as it isQuote:

Try chomp sms. Very little battery drain.
Both have free trials

I've been very pleased with Handcent. No issues with battery life for me.

Handset is fine. Battery will drain regardless of what texting app you use as the screen is constantly on. If you are on your phone a lot, then turn down the screen brightness. That has helped me big time. Good app nonetheless.

Most battery drain issues have to deal with email and facebook sync times. To often your sync times are set to 5 min intervals which are to low. Set them at higher intervals and you will see better battery life.
Only problem with handcent is it doesn't work with solitaire phone app

I've tried Hancent a few times. Every time I see that it is updated, I DL it to check if it tops GoSMS this time. Usally it doesn't. Even though I have a Samsung Galaxy S3, I think the Hancent app is slow. And I usally end up back on GoSMS. When it comes to batterydainage; I didn't notice much diffrence between Handcent and GoSMS, though both of them use a little more than the stock Messaging "app".
