I would recommend Handcent SMS as well. The pack add-ons are for fonts.

To customize the LED color go to Settings > Notification Settings > Color of LED. You can choose from many different colors or create your own.

You can even change the LED for individuals. Once a contact sends you an SMS, open that message and click the gear on the top right. You can change individual settings there vs global settings from the main menu.

This is great for SMS, but I haven't found an equivalent LED app for ALL notifications. That is, on my BB, I had a different LED colors for notifications from SMS/MMS, e-mail, Facebook, BBM, etc etc.

I would make one if I knew how, but I know nothing about programming.

handsent is pretty nice imo. allows LED color changes like you requested.

just a general rant, not just directed at you, but why are so many former-BB users hellbent on cloning their BB software on the Android OS. Maybe someone has come up with better implementations.

I can understand your feelings but the seeing the led from acrossed the table with a pink light for the wife tells me to ignore it.

While that is true for the most part, there are some things that Android definitely lacks that BlackBerry does very well. The biggest one to me is email management. While Android does a good job (especially with regards to Gmail) BB does it better IMO. Don't get me wrong I love Android and in no way do I regret making the switch, I'm just saying it's not perfect (and no neither is BB). So, it's not that we're hellbent on cloning the os it's just that some of the features that are standard on BB would make Android that much better.

Handcent is nice but it does not do the same thing as berrybuzz, which allowed you to have multiple LED's at the same time. On the droid if you get an email first then a SMS it wont blink for the SMS color. On berrybuzz it would blink (rotate) for all your notifications as they came in.

To answer your rant, I would not say we are asking to "clone" BB software, just apparently many of us found that app very useful and would like to see one like it on the droid.

Please don't get me wrong I love this phone. It so more advanced then the storm I had.

I hear your rant and you do have a point. However I believe the point of this thread is that someone is looking for an app that does custom led for all notifications....you say maybe someone has come up with a better implement....well what is it? The app you requested is for sms only, Berrybuzz does do for all, sms/email/facebook/misscalls.etc

Rants are fine, but your premise is to complain that someone is requesting for an app that does in fact exsist on BB and not on Android

Berrybuzz was hands down the best app for BB. IN fact, I'm surprised BB didn't just implement those features in to their OS.

I would love to gain that functionality on my EVO but the LED is so small, I'm not sure I'd even notice.

I don't think the EVO has a multi-color LED..the updated Handcent only has two color choices for the EVO: green and amber

Is there an app like Handcent that is better at handling MMS messages? The download and delay times on getting pictures sent to me is pretty annoying.

I came from Blackberry to Android and have the Galaxy S so I don't even have an LED at all. It is one of the things I miss about BB but I love so much more about Android. For anyone that is in a similar situation search XDA for "no led". It is free and flashes a red led alternate to signify a message/email has been delivered.

Try ChompSMS..I, personally, haven't used it though..and MMS on Handcent is really annoying the hell out of me too..I may give Chomp a try..

Try using blink. Worked for me even on 2.2 while others didn't.
