LOL...I was wondering the same thing. I get kindof tired of having to constantly research apps that seemingly everyone else has heard about and recognize by name.

Is a little description too much to ask for?

Trillian is a proprietary multiprotocol instant messaging application for Windows, Mac OS X, iPhone OS, BlackBerry, Android, and the Web, created by Cerulean Studios. It can connect to multiple IM services, such as AIM, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Bonjour, XMPP, and Skype networks; as well as Social Networks, such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace; and email services, such as POP3, IMAP, Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail.

The one thing so far that I don't like is that it doesn't have an icon in the notification bar when you are signed into the application. Guess I'll stick with Ebuddy for now.

I prefer that. Takes up notification space.

Besides, eBuddy sits wrong with me. They don't log directly into the services, they actually run it through their servers.

This is one reason I like it.

It needs to be able to pull your Facebook profile pic rather than having to set it manually. It also needs to a setting to never sign off. Right now all you can do is set it to sign off after 7days.

You have to activate the other accounts manually. Under Accounts you just tap on the ones you want - very nice that way. Plus it seems to keep your MetaContact information appropriately (one contact entry for someone with accounts on Gtalk, AIM, MSN, etc.). So far pretty nice - if only they'd release a Linux version

That 7 days is the number of days after you last used Trillian. I think if you don't open Trillian for 7 days you probably don't need to be logged in

I downloaded the apk file, but I can't find it to install it. Can someone help me find it on my Evo? Thanks.

    It's most likely on /mnt/sdcard/downloads/

That's where mine was on my Evo. That's downloaded from the stock browser.

If you're using Astro File Manager I think it's just /sdcard/downloads/ because it treats /sdcard/ as the root.

I replaced Ebuddy with Trillian for a trial run, and I've notice that my battery life has gotten much better. I haven't done anything other than log off of Ebuddy (still have it installed) and installed Trillian. I wonder what's going on.

Since installing trillian I've had my email accessed from ceruleanstudios.com and my facebook account is not working. I only logged into facebook and aim through trillian on android and it's the first time i've used the service. There might be something suspicious going on here.

I know for Gtalk, Trialllian's servers create the connection for you, which might look like a red flag to google.

Maybe they will make it an option that can be turned on and off for a later release.

I thought of that too, I even chocked it up to that at first but when i logged into triallian i noticed i didn't have gtalk set up in triallian. Maybe I set it up and deleted it last night when i installed the application.

Hmm, not sure. I wonder if it imported from your desktop version? Maybe it has to do with the debug logging?

Trillian's pretty trustworthy, they're one of the top IM developers for, what, a decade?

You likely had GTalk running on it at some point.

Trillian has been around for a good long time, they are as trustworthy as you can find in an open market. I just installed it last night, filled in a few IM accounts but haven't played with it much yet. I will this weekend though, Im sure it'll work out just fine.
