I notice when moving an app from my phone to SD card the app gets smaller. For example I just moved Audible, which was 4.34 MB, from the phone to SD card and now it reads 1.77 MB. Any ideas why this is so?

That 1.77 MB is actually the amount of data still on your phone.

When you move apps to SD, it doesn't displace all of it. Some files need to remain on the phone to run and maintain the integrity of the installation.
