Updating google maps 4

Hi guys, I dont see the update for google maps, I dont live in USA so that can be the issue so Im stuck on 3.4, but there must be a way to do this manually, like I updated the N1 to the 2.1 update1 to have multi touch, but I wan maps 4, I already tried scanning a code bar and the android market does not find the app, what can I do? help!

Being that this is a free app. You can have someone back it up and send you a copy of the app via e-mail.

Ok I fixed on my own, after trying everything and writing in every forum with no concrete answer or help, what I did was placed a tmobile sim, looks like it does not mater where you are, and you can update and also buy apps, then put in the old sim card. thats it....
