Unless you're rooted and running the correct ROM.
I'm rooted 2.0.1, it worked for me when I scanned the QR on the homepage
We'll be able to download it soon... ;) Officially.
I'm rooted and it downloaded and worked pretty good. Well, actually it's crap. When I asked it to show me My Location, it put me sitting on the porch!! I'm in the Den. It was off about at least 10 feet!! :D :D
Amazing piece of programing and hardware!!!
Ah, I didn't see the 2.1 requirement.
Come on Moto/VZW!! Bring on 2.1 already!
It is coming "soon". When they think it's ready, they will release. I would bet that most users do not care and might not even know about its existence.Quote:

I have Pete's Bugless Beast v1.0 and I have been running Google Earth since they posted it and it works great!
Just wanted to make a thread for those that did not know that I believe the 2.1 requirement only applies to those phones which are not rooted with custom ROMs installed.
If anyone has other ROMs installed and can DL and use it please post here so we can get an idea as to which ROMs are working for it.
idk if it will work..but Im on DM 1.0 and its downloading right now..
EDIT: works fine :)
It will work as I have it.
I will merge this with the previous thread.
I tried it today and it's ok it will be one of those app's I keep on my phone but hardly ever use.
Running Rooted Droid 2.0.1, Smoked Glass 4.5, Can I run it?
If so, where do I get it?
either a search on the market, or the qr code from the article
Neither worked for me
I feel the same way. It is nice though.Quote:

can someone send me the file or give me some ideas?
To me it seems like the Droids being put on the backburner when it comes to updates/apps compared to other devices... Sorta pissing me off after I invested over 500 dollars in this damn phone. I like it, alot, but feels like were getting shorted. Especially 2.1.. where the hells that update? And, why were some features that were initially in 2.1 like live wallpapers, etc, etc, etc, taken out... its like they dangle a carrot infront of our faces then pull it. Bull****
Not sure why they left stuff out. The Droid is clearly capable of running both the live wallpapers and the new app drawer at the same time. Maybe these will be added in the next update?
I just invested a lot of money, time and effort into both the Droid and the Google ecosystem. I really hope this isn't a sign of things to come - a market so fragmented that Windows Mobile will seem like the good old days.
I'm running Ultimate Droid, and found it on the market. Installed & ran with no problems, so far.
Nice, but still not sure why i'd use it if I have maps. Aside to impress people (read: brag).
Already downloaded it been pretty busy and haven't played with it yet
If you can't get the app from the market here is a link for you. download it from here. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
Don't know if it's related or not, but I installed Google Earth today on my
Nexus one and multiple times found it very sluggish and twice, it would not turn on until after MULTIPLE attempts. I turned the phone on and off twice- still had trouble, so I un-installed Earth. So far, it's been OK since.
Anyone else having issues?
scot
Not sure I have enough posts to drop a link, but our site has Google Earth for 2.0.1 and non-rooted users...
droid-life.com
I am having issues with it also - some lock up's and such. But it's such a cool app that it's not that big a deal.
The only time I have issues is when RUNNING google earth - not overall.
