    Default Google Latitude

I use Google Maps Latitude feature and it finds my position fine and shows my friends but when i go back to my home screen Latitude stops transmitting even though i have it set to automatically transmit my location. Is there anyway to make the program transmit my location even if i'm on the home screen

It has been this way for me since day one. From what I understand its supposed to do background updates using cell tower triangulation. For me it does not update location while the screen is off or maps is not open on the screen. I came from a bb so I was used to the background use and the quick location updates but for some reason on the droid its not quite the same.

Google help center shows this to be true also. Many people ask the same question without a single response.

update: I did find this and it has some possible responses that may help

Same problem here. It did frequent background updating and worked fine until Feb. 2. We re-joined after the issue from 2/2. There have also been some updates for Google Maps since then. Nothing has fixed the problem though, and now the only time any of our friends' locations are updated is if they physically go in to the Maps app.

i agree. i set a widget for it just to see how it looked (never using the app before) and what popped up was my exact address. no approx. address, but direct address with the number to my building and even showed the side of the building i was in as the dot was closer to the back.
