Does Kindle's "sync" ablity work with sideloaded books?

I have the Kindle app on both my Xoom and my Evo. I love the idea of being able sync the furthest page read between the two...but it doesn't ever happen. I see no syncing occuring at all. Am I missing something or is it because I only read sideloaded books (I get them from my local online library...great method).

Has anyone gotten the sync feature to work between two android devices AND with a sideloaded book? And if so can you walk me through the set up? I would love to see this feature working.

Unfortunately no. Sideloaded books are not uploaded to Amazon's servers and therefore cannot be synced. Only content downloaded directly from Amazon's store will utilize whispersync and be available on other Kindle devices/apps

There was an article about using Calibre to update the metadata, which would allow syncing to work. I would check out the how-to section over at www.kindleboards.com.
