I downloaded and installed free version of ' Where's my Droid' yesterday. By texting a code to my phone from another phone or computer, I was able to
1-Get my phone to ring, even if in silent mode (I didn't try airplane mode....seems like that might not work)
2-Get the lat / lon location of my phone with statement of accuracy (in this case 60 meters). I think this comes from google location service...it was not able to access any gps)
You can see those would be handy things if you lost our misplaced you phone. And it took me only 10 minutes to download and try it out. Which means:
1-it's easy. I recommend it for that reason.
2-just try it. 10 minutes
The free version does not have access to features that will allow you to lock down your phone after it's stolen. You have to pay for that.
I googled and found a review of this app and several similar app's on lifehacker.com
