Google Play Music issue after "Gapless playback" update

Since the last one or two app updates for google play music, the app sometimes refuses to skip to the next track. It will fall quiet for about ten seconds, and the proceed to replay the song that was just played, but only in 3 second spurts. The app or bluetooth headphones have to be skipped to listen to the next track. Also, it doesn't do this for each song. I'm on a 3 song run as i type this, only after having to intervein. App runs on wi-fi from a Motorola ATRIX 4g 4.5.141 2.3.6. I have removed and reinstalled the app with the same outcome. I searched for the issue elsewhere but im not sure what to call it.
