Google Currents as Google Reader replacement -- how timely is it?

Hi, I'm trying out Google Currents as a Reader replacement. It looks really nice.

I've imported my Google Reader feeds into is, but I've noticed that they don't updated in a timely fashion. When I compare it to the Reader website, the feeds are always late. They started off a few days late, but they've got a bit better. Still hours late, though. Even after I manually sync, they're still late.

Does anyone have an explanation for why this might be? Or a solution to make the feed updates more timely?

i will mention to you that currents should be the most awesome thing. keep an eye on system errors, freezes, random reboots. my last 2 phones and my xoom had these issues a short time after installing currents. lots of hand wringing that is until i uninstalled.
