Available app updates?

I had a notification for an app update, but my finger slid across it accidentally and it dismissed. So that left me with no idea which app I had installed had the update available. I tried to find a way to see the dismissed notification but couldn't, and I tried to see if there was any way in the app manager tool to see available updates but couldn't, and now I have no idea which app had the update.

I did read this morning about Handcent's new update, went to the market, searched for Handcent, and once there I found the update and installed it. But if I hadn't read that on a forum, I would not have found it.

So is there a way to see what updates are available? Once I accidentally dismissed the notification, is there ANYTHING I could have done to find out which apps had updates available?

Go to the Market. Hit the menu button. Choose "downloads" from the pop-up menu. You will get a list of all apps you have downloaded. The apps with "updates available" will be at the top of the list.
